This very common condition occurs when people don’t have either enough tears, or the correct composition of tears, on the surface of their eyes to lubricate the eyes and keep them comfortable. He’s bringing 2 new dry eye testing devices that ESA has recently begun using to measure dry eye. With these simple quick tear tests, we can now confirm diagnosis and show you when progress is being made. The TearLab Osmolarity System equates the dry eye to a number normal to severe that we can monitor.
The second test InflammaDry® in-office test detects elevated levels of MMP-9, an inflammatory marker that is consistently elevated in the tears of patients with dry eye disease. All other dry eye tests measure tear production and stability to identify patients that may otherwise be missed with other dry eye testing methods.
