Eye Surgeons Associates is delighted to welcome Dr. Karsen Maxwell to our practice in 2024. A native of Knoxville, Illinois, Dr. Maxwell brings exceptional credentials and a passion for comprehensive eye care to our community.
Dr. Maxwell’s journey in healthcare began at Loras College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with high honors, complemented by minors in Spanish and chemistry. Her commitment to serving diverse communities was enhanced by her study abroad experience in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she developed fluency in Spanish—a valuable skill that will help us better serve our Spanish-speaking patients.
Graduating as valedictorian from the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Maxwell distinguished herself through academic excellence and leadership. Her achievements include the prestigious Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal Award and membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. She further advanced her expertise through a specialized Pediatrics and Binocular Vision residency.
Dr. Maxwell’s clinical interests include:
- Pediatric eye care
- Primary eye care
- Contact lens fitting, including myopia management
- Ocular disease and medical co-management

When not caring for patients, Dr. Maxwell enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and pets and exploring new destinations through travel.
